Fuse 1+ 30W FAQs
The Formlabs Fuse 1+ 30W has a build volume of 6.5 × 6.5 × 11.8 inches (XYZ). You can print parts up to those dimensions depending on packing density and part orientation within the build.
The Fuse 1+ 30W supports seven high-performance SLS materials, including:

Nylon 12 and Nylon 12 Tough Powders are the most widely used materials for the Fuse 1+, valued for its excellent balance of strength, flexibility, and durability, making it ideal for functional prototypes and end-use parts.
The Fuse 1+ 30W offers exceptional impact resistance with Nylon 11 Powder, Nylon 11 CF Powder, and Nylon 12 Tough Powder, making them ideal for parts that need to withstand repeated stress or heavy-duty use.
The Fuse 1+ 30W lets users choose between ambient air or N2 printing atmospheres for materials that require Nitrogen. Using N2 Mode requires additional hardware and safety considerations, therefore not all users are expected to regularly use N2.
Nitrogen is primarily required for Nylon 11 and Nylon 11 CF to prevent oxidation, improve part quality, and enhance powder recyclability.
Post-processing for the Fuse 1+ 30W relies on Fuse Sift and Fuse Blast. After a build has fully cooled, parts are carefully removed from the build chamber and separated from unsintered powder using the Fuse Sift. Cooling is critical to ensure parts maintain their shape and dimensional accuracy. Next, the parts are media blasted in the Fuse Blast to completely remove residual powder and achieve a smooth, clean surface finish.
Yes—Fuse Blast can polish parts with an optional upgrade. It requires a media swap, allowing cleaning and polishing in one step.
Fuse 1+ 30W is part of Formlabs’ Open Platform. Open Material Mode is available for a single lifetime fee per printer. Open Material Mode allows you to print with third-party material on Formlabs SLS printers.
You can use any software or 3D scan to design your model and export it in a 3D printable file format (STL, OBJ or 3MF). Each SLS printer includes software with fine-tuned print settings, that assist you in orienting and arranging models, as well as estimating print times, and slicing the digital model into layers for printing.
PreForm is Formlabs’ easy to use software included with your printer purchase. PreForm is offered for free, with no licenses, annual fees, or installation limits. PreForm’s automatic algorithms set up your print’s layout, orientation, and supports.
