The Complete Workflow

Form 4L FAQs
The Formlabs Form 4L offers a generous build volume of 13.9 × 7.7 × 13.8 inches, allowing you to print large, single-piece parts or multiple smaller components in one job. In most cases, you can take advantage of nearly the full build area, depending on part orientation and support requirements.
Form 4L has a 4.6x larger build volume than Form 4 and 3x larger than Fuse.

It depends on the material, but resin prints can be surprisingly strong. One key advantage is that they’re isotropic, so strength is consistent in every direction.
Yes, Open Material Mode is available for a single lifetime fee per printer. Open Material Mode allows you to print with any third-party 405 nm photopolymer resin.
There is no current upgrade path from the Formlabs Form 4L to the Formlabs Form 4BL. If you require biocompatible printing, a separate Form 4BL system is needed.
To dispose of unused or expired resin, consider using the WRAP Pro to print a solid form that can be safely discarded. Hazardous waste services can be cumbersome and expensive, and the WRAP allows you to deal with this hassle seamlessly.
The Form Wash L and Form Cure L are part of the Form 4L workflow. Form Wash L is the second step in the workflow. It automatically cleans printed parts thoroughly with IPA or alternative solvents to leave your parts pristine and ready to be cured. After the parts are clean, they are placed in Form Cure L to be post-cured and solidify mechanical properties.
PreForm is Formlabs’ easy to use software included with your printer purchase. PreForm is offered for free, with no licenses, annual fees, or installation limits. PreForm’s automatic algorithms set up your print’s layout, orientation, and supports.

If the integrated camera is enabled, it automatically saves a photo of each print when it completes. The camera also allows users to take video timelapses of the printing process and snapshots of the build platform from Dashboard.
Formlabs printers can operate entirely offline to meet security requirements by using direct USB connections or local area networks (LAN) without internet access. Users can transfer jobs via PreForm, while firmware updates and Open Material Mode activation still require temporary connectivity.
